New Vetel Diagnostics Website Gives Vets and Vet Techs a "Hoof Up" in
the Digital Age

/San Luis Obispo, CA/ -- Vetel Diagnostics, a digital radiography company founded in San Luis Obispo by practicing veterinarian James K. Waldsmith, DVM, has launched a new website that shows veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary radiologists just how much they can gain by going digital. The launch of the new web site coincides with Vetel’s release of two brand new Flat Panel DR options: the Empower 1717 (17”X 17” Active Area) and the Empower 1417 Wireless (14”X 17” Active Area). These new detector panels offer both unprecedented imaging area, as well as the first wireless panel in the industry.

Traditional X-ray systems require that busy veterinary practices not only pay for equipment and film but also spend a great deal of time waiting for images, checking images and often retaking images. Waldsmith set out to do it better. He developed a series of high-definition digital radiography systems for equine and companion animal use that not only produced high-quality images in less than 10 seconds but that also helped his staff to increase efficiency and profits.

Working together with a team of imaging industry leaders, Waldsmith launched Vetel Diagnostics. The company's products combine the accuracy, ease-of-use and functionality a busy practice needs to operate smoothly and efficiently — all drawing on Waldsmith's experience as a practicing veterinarian.

Unlike most other veterinary digital radiography systems, which are created for human use and then modified to work on animals, Vetel Diagnostics systems are designed by a veterinarian specifically for veterinarians. Today these products are increasing diagnostic capabilities and improving the financial health of successful veterinary practices around the world.

"The real-time assessment and the dynamic detail [of the Vetel Diagnostics systems] are vital to what we do," said Shawn Bengtson, Manager of the Experimental Surgery Center for Pre-Clinical Studies at the University of Pittsburgh's McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. "We can view, select and transmit high-quality images for real time assessments via email to all parties concerned. Obtaining radiographs is fast; we can acquire an image and if the technique needs to be adjusted we can do so with ease and have a repeat image without the need to wait for developing."

Dr. Waldsmith’s expertise in thermography, nuclear medicine and other diagnostic imaging modalities has been long recognized. He was an attending veterinarian and imaging specialist at the 1996 Olympic Games, and he is a consultant on thermal imaging to wild and marine mammal organizations such as Dolphin Quest, Busch Gardens and Sea World. He also owns the Edna Valley Veterinary Medical Center.

The award-winning firm Web Feet Integrated Marketing, Inc., designed Vetel Diagnostic's new website (www.veteldiagnostics.com), which provides product specifications, information on upcoming training seminars and return-on-investment information for veterinarians and veterinary technicians looking to enter the digital age.
